Eating on the run can be a calorie disaster for the average American. One way to cut calories is to choose a "grilled chicken" sandwich in place of a "fried chicken" sandwich or hamburger of equal size. Most fast food restaurants including McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and Hardee's offer a grilled chicken sandwich. Chicken that is grilled (not fried) contains significantly less fat and roughly 50 percent fewer calories per ounce. Be sure you don't make the mistake of asking for a chicken fillet. Many restaurants will automatically give you the fried chicken fillet. You can save additional calories by asking for the sandwich without cheese or sauce. I generally ask for lettuce and tomato. You can also get a packet of BBQ sauce or mustard for as little as 15 calories.
