A question I am asked from every golfer….”How do I become more consistent?” The golf swing is a circular motion and creates a collision with a stationary object. Whether an athlete is swinging a golf club, shooting a basketball or bowling, they need good balance to perform.
The golf swing requires balance both at address and throughout the motion. Using BodiTrak, a pressure mapping device that maps a golfers weight pressure from address through the entire swing, we know where a golfer’s feet become “unstable” in their motion. This provides immediate feedback for the golfer and helps create a feeling of proper balance. Proper balance creates a balance pivot and the foundation of a golf swing.
We then “train” the golfer as would coaches do in any other sport to position their body in the most efficient way to achieve OPTIMAL balance for the collision with the golf ball. Becoming aware of the proper pressure throughout the swing is an important part of creating a consistent motion. Without consistent balance golfers cannot be consistently striking better golf shots.
Some golfers who struggle with balance may not have enough strength in their body to sustain the violent motion of the golf swing and collision. This instability would require a strength and conditioning program to obtain the necessary strength factors to improve.
The best golfers in the world have very similar Pressure Mapping throughout the swing. This is why they hit more consistent golf shots than do most amateur golfers. So if you would like to become more “CONSISTENT” in your golf shots you NEED to be CONSISTENT in your balance and stability.
